KEY DEFINITIONS 


White Supremacy- the belief that white people are superior to those of all other races, especially the black race, and should therefore dominate society. 

Racism- prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized. 

Race - is a grouping of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into categories generally viewed as distinct by society.  

Ethnicity -the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition. 

Multicultural- relating to or constituting several cultural or ethnic groups within a society 

Multiethnic -relating to or constituting several ethnic groups 

Intercultural -relating to or constituting several ethnic groups 

Diversity-  means having a range of people with various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and various lifestyles, experience, and interests. A group of people who are different in the same place. 

Social Stigma - is the disapproval of, or discrimination against, a person based on perceivable social characteristics that serve to distinguish them from other members of a society 

Bias - prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair. 

Prejudice -preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience
