Survivor Faithworks Island Virtual VBS Plan DMV|COG
Good afternoon Delmarva-DC!
In an effort to equip you with relevant and practical resources at a time when COVID-19 has altered ministry plans across the nation, leaders from throughout our region have come together to create an exciting Virtual VBS program. With the help of Pastor Chris Quinn and Faithworks Kids Ministries, we have developed a four- day program designed for reaching your students through the power of ZOOM (or any other video conferencing software). It is imperative that you become well versed in the video conferencing software of your choice; especially as it relates to sharing your screen. Each day is broken into multiple segments, offering a variety of options any leader can adapt in order to minister to their particular group. We trust this curriculum will help you shape an impacting experience with Christ for your students as we navigate the possibilities of a virtual classroom.
The original thought and design of this program is to offer a virtual VBS plan. That being said, please know this material can also be used in other ways: a four-week Sunday School/Children’s church plan, a four-week midweek plan or any other possible use. We certainly want to offer resources that have variety, options and flexibility.
The following is a guided lesson plan for each day of Survivor Faithworks Island. Each day’s lesson will take anywhere from one to two hours to accomplish. All the video segments are available on Vimeo, simply follow the links and share the screen with your group.
Day 1 - Survivor Faithworks Island
Begin by welcoming your students and having prayer.
*This guided lesson necessitates your ability to share your screen on video conferencing software*

DRAMA: https://vimeo.com/436800636
CHALLENGE: https://vimeo.com/436803283
Option A - Have your students guess which team will win the challenge. Possibly create incentives/prizes for those who guess the correct team.
Option B - Instead of your students watching this challenge, develop your own challenge. Using Pictionary may be a possibility...
If you don’t have an easel handy, you can play Pictionary with Zoom’s whiteboard feature. If you click on the “share screen” button and select whiteboard you can use the annotation tools that allow you to use your mouse to draw. Use Biblical words or tropical/island terms to tie into the theme.
WORSHIP: https://vimeo.com/436805596
Option A - Choose another worship song/set (YouTube, Vimeo, another MP4).
LESSON: https://vimeo.com/436809571
Have prayer with your group following the lesson. Ask your students if they have any needs or need special prayer. This has the potential to be the most powerful part of the day; take your time and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Option A - After watching the lesson, you may decide to create your own lesson. You know your students better than anyone, always follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
CLOSING: https://vimeo.com/436812077
After the closing video, take time to fellowship with your students. Creating social time for students is critical during this season of COVID-19. This could also serve as a time to share testimonies, announcements, or engage in additional games/activities.
Be sure to invite your students back for the next day of Survivor Faithworks Island!
